The Columbia Chess Club has been the Palmetto State's premier chess hub since the 1870s, welcoming players of every age and skill level to its vibrant, open-to-the-public space. From absolute beginners discovering the joy of their first checkmate to seasoned masters battling in high-stakes rated matches, the club pulses with energy during its signature weekly gatherings—Tuesday Kid's Nights and Quad tournaments, Thursday main, and monthly Saturday events—while hosting powerhouse competitions like the $1,000-guaranteed Tunnelvision series and the South Carolina State Championships.
