January was about the events you run again and again. A club that meets every Tuesday should not have to build the same tournament from scratch fifty-two times a year, and most of this month went into making sure it doesn't have to.

Recurring tournament series

A recurring series is a template plus a schedule. Set up the sections, ratings, and payment options once, pick the recurrence — weekly, or monthly on a given weekday — and TournaChess projects the calendar forward and creates each event for you.

  • A dedicated series page showing the whole run, past and projected
  • Section management in the series edit dialog, including drag-and-drop reordering
  • Series that have passed their end date close themselves out automatically

Duplicate a tournament

Any tournament can be duplicated, carrying its sections, settings, and payment options into a new event. Dates shift automatically to the new tournament's start, so a copy of last month's event does not arrive with last month's round schedule.

Grand Prix

The Grand Prix series scoring system gained the controls organizers kept asking for:

  • Scoring settings — participation points and place bonuses, configurable per series
  • Manual Sections mode, for series whose sections do not map one-to-one onto their tournaments
  • Per-section standings, alongside the consolidated view
  • Tournament links and a quick-actions column in the standings table

Ratings and pairings

  • USCF live ratings can be enabled per section, so pairings and standings use the latest rating from USCF rather than the last published monthly rating
  • Performance ratings and estimated post-tournament ratings, including USCF rating floors, now appear in printable standings and in the USCF export
  • FIDE Dutch 2026 joined the list of pairing methods

Import a past event

USCF Event Import reconstructs a completed USCF-rated event from the USCF's own records — sections, players, every round's games, and standings — for Grand Prix tracking or simply to keep a club's history in one place. See USCF Integration.

Working a round

The pairing editor picked up the things a director reaches for when a round does not go to plan: drag-and-drop row reordering, direct management of unpaired players, creating a bye from the editor, and editing a bye's point value on the results screen. Result entry updates optimistically, the projector view gained a Reset action, and games still missing a result are highlighted in amber so an unfinished board is visible from across the room.
