Two features people had been asking for since the beginning landed in the same month: live boards, and telling players where to sit without shouting.

Live boards

TournaChess connects to DGT LiveChess Cloud, so games played on DGT electronic boards stream into the tournament page as they happen. A Live Boards tab organizes them by section, each with its own round selector.

  • A move browser, with the clocks following the position you are looking at
  • Player ratings shown according to the section's rating type
  • An engine evaluation bar that can be turned off

Pairing notifications

Players can subscribe to a tournament's pairings and be told their board and opponent the moment a round is published — by email, by SMS, or both. Subscription is strictly opt-in, offered from every tab, and open to guest registrations as well as account holders.

  • Clubs buy SMS credits in packs; the club is emailed when the balance runs low or out, and the purchasing admin gets a receipt
  • Directors can turn SMS notifications on or off per event
  • A Notifications tab in account settings controls what you receive
  • An SMS is kept to two segments, and never at the cost of the opponent and board number

Custom fields, scoped

A custom registration question can now be attached to a specific section or to a specific payment option, instead of being asked of everyone. A scholastic section can collect a school name without an open section asking adults for one. Scopes survive tournament duplication and section cloning, and directors can skip a required custom field when registering a player themselves.

Public registration and the contact form are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, with the verification token kept alive while a payment dialog is open so a slow checkout does not fail at the end. Cookie consent and the legal pages moved to first-party implementations — the privacy preferences dialog is ours now, not a third party's.

  • Quad splits can end with one smaller final group rather than refusing to split
  • USCF Swiss picks its default rating type from the section, and FIDE Dutch 2026 is selectable directly
  • A payment option must be chosen explicitly when the section offers any, rather than one being assumed
  • A Merch Shop link in the header menu
